BioDurInject
The aim of the BioDurInject research project is to develop bio-based thermoset moulding compounds that can be processed efficiently in the injection moulding process. The development of bio-based moulding compounds can conserve resources and tap into renewable resources, reduce CO2 emissions, achieve independence from crude oil and thus improve the sustainability of these materials. In addition, new processing methods for bio-based thermosets, such as the injection moulding process, will be established and new fields of application created through efficient cycle times in the process.
In addition to the development of bio-based moulding compounds, this project also aims to demonstrate and evaluate their potential in terms of processing and mechanical properties as well as their economic competitiveness compared to petrochemical-based moulding compounds. Finally, the production and use of the moulding compounds will be evaluated by means of a life cycle analysis. In this way, manufacturers and users will be shown the potential but also the challenges arising from the development of bio-based thermoset moulding compounds. The moulding compounds will be offered and sold on the market by Süd-West-Chemie as an independent product once the project has been completed.
