The University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (FHWS) is a university in Bavaria founded in 1971 with two departments in Würzburg and Schweinfurt.
It is the third largest university of applied sciences in Bavaria. The range of courses offered by the ten faculties currently includes 26 degree programmes with diploma, bachelor's and master's degrees.
The design office Hein was founded in 1986 by Rudolf Hein and in the first years focused on the design of injection moulds and the area of technical training. As the company expanded, it concentrated on the areas of product development and the design of injection moulds. In addition to these areas of expertise, the focus today is on injection moulding simulations including sprue situation and tempering, trouble shooting and component optimisation as well as the development of sustainable mould systems (IsoForm®) and the creation of product visualisations. In 1996, the first Technology Day for Product Development, Mould Making and Injection Moulding was held in Neustadt (near Hanover), which has since become a trademark for this company with many innovations and a great response in the industry (2014 with 550 participants).
P.E.S. is an Iranian manufacturer of pipes and fittings made of polyethylene in a wide variety of sizes for a wide range of sectors. The cooperation between SKZ and P.E.S. has existed since 2004.

The Lower Saxony companies and scientific institutions in polymer technology and research joined forces in the WIP to optimise cooperation and communication among themselves. The WIP has set itself the task of linking personal contacts quickly and easily in order to bring members together. The use of as many opportunities as possible and the constant exchange of knowledge are the basis for joint success.
In 2002, Lower Franconian research institutions and innovation-oriented companies joined forces in the Würzburg Research Association for Functional Materials in order to quickly translate current research findings into innovative products and thus bring about rapid technology transfer.
The industrial research centres united in the ZUSE-Association have a clear message to SMEs: as research and development service providers, their facilities ensure the on-site transfer of innovation to industry, primarily for small and medium-sized enterprises.
