The SKZ branch office in Halle is involved in training and research. We now qualify 3,500 participants per year and in research we have specialized in composites (fibre-reinforced plastics). Consulting and testing services complete the portfolio.

Historical

The branch office in Halle is a continuation of the plastics technology training activities of the Central Institute for Welding Technology (ZIS) by the SKZ.

• Coming from Leipzig/Dresden (A14): Exit Halle (Saale)/Peißen
  Turn right onto the B100 as far as the Dessauer Brücke (please get into the right-hand lane!), turn left onto Dessauer Str., then immediately right onto the B6 towards Magdeburg, continue on Trothaer Str. as far as the fork in the road, turn half right into Köthener Str., after approx. 200 meters you will find SLV Halle parking lot on the left, SKZ is located on the SLV premises.

• From the direction of Nuremberg/Munich (A9): at the Schkeuditzer Kreuz junction
  take the A14 in the direction of Halle, exit Halle (Saale)/Peißen
  Approach as from Leipzig/Dresden

• From the direction of Berlin (A9): at the Schkeuditzer Kreuz junction
  take the A14 towards Halle, exit Halle (Saale)/Peißen
  Approach as from Leipzig/Dresden

• From the direction of Magdeburg (A14): Exit Halle-Trotha Wettin/B6
  Turn right onto the B6 (Magdeburger Chaussee) towards Halle, get into the left-hand lane in Halle and turn left at the fifth set of traffic lights towards Köthen/Petersberg onto Köthener Straße, after approx. 200 meters you will find SLV Halle parking lot on the left, SKZ is located on the SLV premises.

Parking

• SKZ Training Center is located on the grounds of the SLV Halle.
• Sufficient parking spaces are available for participants in the SLV parking lot.

Arrival by train 
From the main station, take the S-Bahn to Halle-Trotha or streetcar lines 2 (from the main station), 3 or 8 (from the city center) in the direction of Halle-Trotha to the terminus.

The Horb site focuses extensively on the training and further education of specialists in plastics processing. The processing of thermoplastic semi-finished products and the field of injection molding technology play a particularly important role here. Modern workshops and experienced instructors who are constantly undergoing further training ensure the high quality of the practice-oriented training courses.

Historical

The location in Baden-Württemberg was founded in Stuttgart back in 1972 with the aim of providing more effective support for plastics processing companies in south-west Germany.
Since September 2012, the SKZ location in Baden-Württemberg has moved to Horb am Neckar.

Coming from Stuttgart (A81): Drive in the direction of Singen; take the Rottenburg/Neckar exit.
Turn right towards Horb, direction Rottweil. Approx. 15 km on the B14; at the first traffic light turn right into the "Industriegebiet Hohenberg". After approx. 300m you will see SKZ on the right-hand side.

From the direction of Singen (A81): Drive in the direction of Stuttgart/Tübingen; take the Horb am Neckar exit. 
Approx. 4 km to Horb; drive through Horb in the direction of Stuttgart (B14). 
Please note: Speed limit 30 - speed control! Approx. 3 km further on, turn left at the second set of traffic lights "Industriegebiet Hohenberg". After approx. 300m you will see SKZ on the right-hand side.

In its well-equipped training center, the branch office in Peine offers numerous practice-oriented courses in the areas of "Joining" and "Processing of plastics". For example, courses are offered for injection molding machine setters, toolmakers, machine operators and quality assurance staff. The site is also active in the field of semi-finished product processing with a wide range of courses.

Historical

The northernmost location was founded in 1991 with the support of the state of Lower Saxony and the city of Peine.

The European Centre for Dispersion Technologies (EZD) is an interdisciplinary research and technology transfer center whose main focus is on the production and characterization of dispersions. One focus is on resin development. In order to be able to offer these services to industry, the EZD has a competent team and a wide range of equipment in modern laboratories. The EZD was established at the SKZ site in Selb in 2014.

The areas of application for dispersions include paints and coatings, nanocomposites, adhesives and matrices for fiber composites.

In the area of formulation, the focus is on the modification and optimization of functional additives for improved dispersibility and final properties of dispersions:

Dispersing process

The main focus in the area of dispersing processes is on optimizing dispersing processes and improving dispersing quality:

Analytics

In the field of analytics, the focus is on the characterization of particles and dispersions using modern analytical methods. Furthermore, we develop new practical methods for the rapid and, if necessary, non-destructive characterization of dispersions.

Partner

The establishment of EZD is funded by German Plastics Center SKZ and the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology and supported by the Bavarian Nanotechnology Cluster.

Improvements in the field of dispersing various material systems are of essential importance for a number of industrial partners, who also support EZD financially. In addition, EZD's expertise is being further developed through a close exchange of experience with the application laboratories of equipment manufacturers.

Arrival by train: 
Unfortunately, the EZD is not directly accessible by public transport. If you wish to travel by train, please inform us in advance. We will be happy to organize a transfer from the station to the EZD for you.
