The SKZ Plastics Center draws a positive balance of the Fakuma 2024 in Friedrichshafen. From October 15 to 19, 1,639 exhibitors presented their innovations in efficiency, sustainability and recycling management in twelve halls and foyers. A special highlight for the SKZ was the first networking evening under the motto “Network Without Borders” on Thursday evening.

This year, SKZ can once again look back on a successful trade fair. Although fewer participants visited the fair overall than in the previous year, the experts from the Würzburg Plastics Institute were still able to hold numerous valuable discussions with some very specific ideas for further cooperation. The main focus was on topics such as sustainability and digitalization. AI also emerged as a new trend topic – with the first implementations already in machine technology.
Successful cooperation with Koenig & Bauer Coding
“This year, the SKZ stand once again invited the numerous visitors to network, obtain comprehensive information or think through new ideas and discuss them with us,” reports Matthias Ruff, Head of Sales, Education and Research, and authorized signatory at SKZ. “Our cooperation with Koenig & Bauer Coding from Veitshöchheim was also particularly well received by visitors – for example, visitors were able to have a two-component frisbee produced by SKZ individualized directly on site using a laser.”
180 guests at the first networking evening
The highlight of this year's Fakuma was the first networking evening under the motto “Network Without Borders” hosted by Kunststoffcluster Österreich, Kunststoffzentrum KATZ from Switzerland and SKZ in the Zeppelin hangar in Friedrichshafen. “Our first networking evening was a thoroughly successful event: three countries, six sponsors and 180 satisfied and exuberant guests – we immediately wanted to repeat it,” sums up Andreas Bachmann, Head of Network & Event at SKZ.
SKZ represented at Fakuma 2026
“We owe the success of this year's trade fair primarily to our excellently organized and dedicated stand team,” says Andreas Bachmann. It goes without saying that SKZ will also be represented at Fakuma in 2026. We are already looking forward to presenting news from the fields of education, research, certification, testing and networking,” adds Matthias Ruff. And for those who can't wait, he has the following information: ”Next year, the SKZ will of course also be at the K trade fair in Düsseldorf.”
