During the Network Week at the SKZ Plastics Center in Würzburg, the SKZ and iNOEX successfully put the “AUREX ERS 160” ultrasonic system into operation. The existing system was completely retrofitted with state-of-the-art measurement and control technology.

The AUREX ERS 160 T ultrasonic system is integrated into a pipe extrusion line in the technical center of the Materials, Compounding and Extrusion (MCE) department at SKZ. The system can be used to continuously monitor and document critical quality parameters, such as pipe wall thickness or pipe diameter. The modernized system is now characterized by a variety of innovative functions. In particular, the “Quality Check” function offers a new improvement in quality control. This is the first and only ultrasonic defect check for pipe extrusion. The integration of state-of-the-art technologies enables precise and reliable measurement of the pipe products, which significantly improves quality control and handling, for example through automatic calibration. The measuring system is used successfully in numerous research and direct customer projects.
Sustainable optimization of pipe production
At the official handover of the system at SKZ, Kersten Kurda, Piet Wippermann and Andreas Büttner were enthusiastic about the new possibilities offered by the updated ultrasonic system. “The retrofit not only enabled us to raise the performance of our system to a new level, but also to add many innovative features to the monitoring options,” explains Andreas Büttner, Head of Training and Technical Center MCE at SKZ. Area Sales Manager Piet Wippermann, who accompanied the retrofit on the part of iNOEX, is delighted with the successful implementation in the SKZ technical center: “The strategic partnership between SKZ and iNOEX underlines the common goal of further advancing innovative strength and quality in the plastics industry”. Kersten Kurda, Technical Manager MCE at SKZ, who also accompanied the implementation of the predecessor system at SKZ, adds in conclusion: “Both companies, SKZ and iNOEX, are convinced that pipe production can be sustainably optimized by using the latest measuring technologies. With the implemented retrofit, we are now ideally equipped for future development projects.”
