REHAU Industries SE & Co. KG is a leading global polymer specialist and develops innovative materials, technologies and services for the future. The "REHAU Prize for Technology" is awarded to students and young scientists in three categories (bachelor's thesis, master's thesis/diploma thesis, dissertation) with the special aim of promoting the combination of theory and practice and thus the close networking of science and industry. This strong focus on practical relevance is also one of the core ideals of the SKZ Plastics Center in Würzburg. The institute is therefore delighted that this year's prize has been awarded to a colleague.
Processing Carbon Fiber Recyclates
Hatice Malatyali received the award for her doctoral thesis on "Modeling Carbon Fiber Length Shortening". The thesis was written during her employment as a research assistant at the University of Paderborn from 2017 to 2021 under Prof. Dr. Volker Schöppner. In the course of her work, a process development was carried out on the twin-screw extruder for the processing of carbon fiber recyclates in order to develop competitive compounds for products. In addition, the corresponding model development for simulating the carbon fiber length reduction along the twin screw is one of the main objectives.
"Contributing to a more sustainable future".
The REHAU Prize for Technology stands for innovation and progress and is awarded to young scientists who want to make a contribution to the future. "I am delighted that my dissertation has been awarded the REHAU Prize for Technology and that my work has contributed to a more sustainable future," says Hatice Malatyali.
