Paving the way for new specialists in the plastics industry

The world of plastics is often difficult to understand - this applies to newcomers as well as those who have been active in the industry for a long time. Which plastic do I use when? Why does the plastic sometimes do such "strange" things? Which processing methods do I use and when? The SKZ Plastics Center can provide answers to all these questions with its qualification measures.

SKZ aims to counteract the shortage of skilled workers with its broad range of training courses

The world of plastics is becoming increasingly complex and at the same time it is becoming more and more difficult to recruit skilled workers for this industry. This is precisely why good training and further education is essential in order to give employees the opportunity for further development and also to attract career changers. This is precisely why the Würzburg institute offers the SKZ qualifications. The qualifications are aimed at both newcomers and more experienced employees.

Modular structure of the degrees
Each degree consists of compulsory modules and a thematically appropriate elective module. This modular structure enables individual qualification. Markus Betz and Michel Cordes (nass magnet GmbH) also opted for this approach. Both successfully completed their further training as plastics processing specialists. "This qualification created a basic understanding of the chemical principles of plastics and was able to explain the relationships with regard to water tendency, flow behavior and the use of plastics well. In addition, the course also included valuable practical elements, which further enhanced the overall understanding. The entire course was held in a relaxed atmosphere. Among other things, this ensured that all questions and topics could be addressed," says Michel Cordes.

Twelve different degrees
This qualification also offers absolute added value for SKZ employees: Alina Heihoff, a scientist in the area of bonding and surface technology, successfully passed her examination to become a plastics materials expert so that she can integrate this new knowledge into her day-to-day work.

The SKZ currently offers twelve different degrees on various topics.
