To address the acute shortage of skilled workers in the injection molding industry, SKZ is now offering a new training course for setters. The course is particularly suitable for career changers in the injection molding industry as well as for companies that want to train and qualify their employees.

By becoming a certified machine setter, companies can actively address the shortage of skilled workers. The hands-on course enables companies to close the gap between certified setters or plastics technologists and production assistants. Highly skilled plastics professionals can be relieved of routine tasks such as setting up production molds. After this weekly course, even unskilled workers are able to perform more tasks directly than before. As a result, less supervision and support is required.
During the seminar, participants will gain knowledge about economical and safe injection mold setup, setup preparation with production and process documentation, setup post-processing, and proper mold handling with safety and protective devices, as well as first-level maintenance of injection molds.
In addition to the theoretical fundamentals, the course offers a high practical component of more than 50% and is therefore suitable for employees with a need to improve their German language skills as well as for employees who only have basic process knowledge or are new to the industry. In the hands-on portion of the course, participants will learn how to perform several makeready operations under supervision, how to prepare for and follow up on makeready, how to set zero points, how to handle hot runners with and without shut-off needles, and how to connect, start, and shut down the machine. Participants will also learn how to set mold and machine guarding, turn on quality monitoring, and disassemble and maintain the mold. The course lasts five days and concludes with an exam.
