EZD nominated for the Inovyn Awards 2022
EZD, a facility of the SKZ Plastics Center, has been nominated for the Inovyn Awards 2022, which will be presented during the K trade fair. The project "PVC Soft Tissues for high end surgical simulations", which is being worked on together with the company Medability, was nominated as a potential winner in the Responsible Care category.

PVC project in cooperation with Medability GmbH potential winner in Responsible Care category
The aim of the project was to develop a production process for synthetic soft tissue and to optimize the material properties for use in the SimBone spinal surgery simulator. Medability GmbH's high-end hybrid simulator for surgical training combines highly realistic simulated and thus radiation-free X-ray imaging with realistic synthetic anatomy models. For these models, a new PVC plastisol formulation was developed that mimics the mechanical behavior of human tissue, making surgical simulation for surgical training as realistic as possible.
Both the know-how and the equipment are available at EZD to develop new PVC formulations. In addition, the finished products can be tested for material properties in EZD's analytical laboratory. Thus, the EZD in Selb is available to the industry as a competent partner for the formulation, production and characterization of PVC plastisols.
