All-rounder from our own ranks takes over site management

The German Plastics Center has appointed an all-rounder from its own ranks to head the site in Peine: Andreas Grzeskowiak is taking over management of the site in Lower Saxony. Grzeskowiak's many years of experience and his extensive practical know-how, especially in the field of education, should enable further growth.

Andreas Grzeskowiak takes over the management of the SKZ site in Peine with immediate effect

"We are very pleased that we were able to fill the vacant position of site manager from our own ranks. This means that the good work at the site can be continued with minimal induction," emphasizes Benjamin Baudrit, Deputy Managing Director Education and Research at SKZ. Grzeskowiak joined the team at the Peine site back in 2001 and is taking over as site manager after many years of experience as a trainer. "I am very much looking forward to the new tasks in the old team," explains Grzeskowiak. "I completed my advanced training here in 1999 to become a master craftsman in plastics and rubber technology and was impressed even then by the practical and industrial nature of the content. I was then able to continue that as a trainer and would like to build on this strength of the SKZ as site manager."

The site was recently expanded to include an SKZ student laboratory sponsored by the state of Lower Saxony and is thus also active in early education. In this way, in addition to its continuing education activities, the institute also makes an important contribution to recruiting skilled workers for the plastics industry. The school lab is now also achieving supra-regional significance, which was rewarded in June with a visit from Federal Labor Minister and Pein member of the Bundestag Hubertus Heil and member of the state parliament of the SPD Julius Schneider, who personally gained an impression of this showcase project. Already last year, the site further expanded its activities in the welding of PE pipes for gas and water supply towards the north and initiated a cooperation with EBERO FAB Nord GmbH in Norderstedt, Schleswig-Holstein. Grzeskowiak is pleased that the start of the first training courses in November 2022 was successful.

The SKZ site in Peine, in Lower Saxony was founded in 1991 with the support of the state of Lower Saxony and the city of Peine. From the very beginning, the focus was on further training activities relating to various manufacturing technologies in plastics processing and machining. From joining and injection molding to courses on the special features of thermoset processing and seminars on fillers and additives in plastics, the SKZ today offers a wide range of courses on all aspects of plastics.
